The Atlanta Braves reportedly refused to include 21-year-old right-hander Didier Fuentes in trade talks for Detroit Tigers ace Tarik Skubal at the trade deadline. According to Peter Abraham of the Boston Globe, Atlanta would not part with Fuentes despite offering other young pitchers like AJ Smith-Shawver and JR Ritchie. Detroit ultimately traded Skubal to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fuentes impressed in 2026, delivering a 2.45 ERA over 73 1/3 innings in 58 regular-season relief outings for Atlanta. MLB Trade Rumors suggests the Braves' refusal to trade Fuentes indicates the organization may still view him as a long-term starting pitching option rather than merely a reliever.
