Good morning, Camden Chatters. It’s just a few weeks now until the MLB lockout is expected to begin, essentially freezing all baseball roster moves for however many months it may last. Folks, it’s going to suck. But until that happens…

The Baltimore Orioles have parted ways with former first-round picks Ryan Mountcastle and Heston Kjerstad ahead of the expected MLB lockout. The club declined Mountcastle's $7.5 million contract option after an injury-shortened 2026 campaign, while Kjerstad was outrighted off the 40-man roster after clearing waivers unclaimed. Both players are now free agents.
In addition to releasing Mountcastle and Kjerstad, the Orioles cut loose Leody Taveras, Yohel Pozo, and Dietrich Enns. Meanwhile, Baltimore extended a qualifying offer to pitcher Trevor Rogers, ensuring draft compensation if he signs elsewhere in free agency.
