The Red Sox are once again making changes to their coaching staff.

The Boston Red Sox are reassigning third base coach Chad Epperson and first base coach Pablo Cabrera to minor league roles for next season following an American League Wild Card Series sweep by the New York Yankees. According to MassLive.com, Epperson will manage Triple-A Worcester in 2027, while Cabrera will return to his previous post as minor league defensive coordinator. Epperson had faced criticism during the season after multiple baserunners were thrown out at home plate.
The coaching staff changes leave at least two vacancies under manager Chad Tracy heading into the 2027 season. Tracy took over the managerial role after Boston fired Alex Cora and four assistants in April. Despite a strong summer run that secured a postseason berth, Boston's 2026 campaign concluded abruptly after the Yankees outscored them 18-2 across two playoff games.
