The Boston Red Sox need some more thump in the middle of their order, which is why they should be targeting Japanese slugger Teruaki Sato this winter.

BoSox Injection argues that the Boston Red Sox should target Japanese slugger Teruaki Sato as a prime free agent addition. With the Hanshin Tigers agreeing to post the 27-year-old, writer Colin Keane believes Sato would inject much-needed power into a Boston lineup that ranked 26th in home runs in 2026.
Sato won the NPB Triple Crown in 2026, hitting .306 with 39 home runs and 106 RBIs across 143 games. Keane suggests Boston could play Sato at first base while shifting Willson Contreras into a designated hitter role to preserve his longevity.
