Former Boston Red Sox hitting coach Pete Fatse was quietly hired by the Tampa Bay Rays as a hitting consultant. According to reporter Rob Bradford, the AL East division rivals brought Fatse into their organization months after the Red Sox fired him in April alongside manager Alex Cora.

While Fatse does not occupy a spot in the dugout in uniform, he has reportedly worked behind the scenes with Tampa Bay. Rays President of Baseball Operations Erik Neander has publicly praised Fatse regarding his knowledge and role with the club.
