Chicago Cubs farm director Jason Kanzler has reportedly emerged as a candidate for the Seattle Mariners' vacant managerial position. The 36-year-old has overseen Chicago's minor league system for the past three seasons following previous coaching and player development roles with the Houston Astros.
Bleacher Nation notes that Kanzler's work with offensive prospects aligns with Seattle's need for offensive improvement, though his lack of recent major league coaching experience could present a hurdle. Brett Taylor writes that while the interest may provide Kanzler with leverage or future opportunities, the Cubs would likely prefer not to lose him.
