Cubs fans may have missed Ian Happ’s revealing Reds comments before free agency

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ praised the Cincinnati Reds in a September interview with the Cincinnati Enquirer ahead of his impending free agency. Speaking with reporter Gordon Wittenmyer, Happ complimented Cincinnati's young roster and highlighted coaching staff members Willie Harris and manager Terry Francona, calling Cincinnati a special place while noting uncertainty regarding his future.

Cubbies Crib writer Jordan Campbell suggests the Reds could be a potential landing spot, citing Happ's career success at Great American Ballpark, where he has hit 19 home runs. However, Campbell notes obstacles remain, including Cincinnati's historical spending habits and the possibility of Chicago extending a qualifying offer.
