The Chicago Cubs were connected to Randy Arozarena, but the fit remains questionable considering the team's focus on pitching.

The Chicago Cubs have been linked as a potential landing spot for free-agent outfielder Randy Arozarena according to Seattle Times reporter Ryan Divish. Arozarena, who batted .281 with 26 home runs in 2026, reportedly prefers playing on the East Coast and could attract several clubs seeking right-handed hitting, including the Red Sox, Mets, Yankees, and Phillies.
Cubbies Crib writer Jordan Campbell argues that a pursuit of Arozarena appears unlikely because Cubs executive Jed Hoyer plans to prioritize pitching investments. Campbell suggests that allocating significant funds toward rebuilding the rotation could complicate spending on high-end external bats, arguing that re-signing Seiya Suzuki would make more sense if the club seeks offensive upgrades.
