From bidet to postseason play, Murakami’s wild White Sox journey continues

Munetaka Murakami has helped lead the Chicago White Sox to the 2026 American League Wild Card Series against Houston at Daikin Park. Murakami joined the club from Japan on a two-year, $34 million contract and made an immediate impact, hitting home runs in his first three Major League games and matching a franchise record by homering in five consecutive contests in April.

White Sox general manager Chris Getz credited the first baseman with boosting the roster's development and securing crucial victories. Murakami stated through interpreter Kenzo Yagi that the team has built a winning culture ahead of their postseason run.
