The Cincinnati Reds are entering an offseason with Elly De La Cruz in trade rumors, and Jim Bowden has a simple reason to listen: his agent.

Former Cincinnati Reds general manager Jim Bowden argued on the "D-Mac and Reiter" show that the Reds should consider trading shortstop Elly De La Cruz to a big-market team like the Los Angeles Dodgers. Bowden pointed to De La Cruz's representation by agent Scott Boras as the primary reason, suggesting the superstar is unlikely to sign an extension before reaching free agency.
Bowden noted that Cincinnati previously offered De La Cruz an extension larger than Joey Votto's 10-year, $225 million contract, which the shortstop declined. Bowden recommended that Cincinnati trade him for a major prospect package rather than risk losing him later. Separately, former Reds player Sean Casey praised De La Cruz as potentially one of the greatest players ever.
