The Cincinnati Reds seem like a logical fit for Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran, but they'll have stiff competition from the San Diego Padres.

Drew Koch of Blog Red Machine reports that while the Boston Red Sox are shopping outfielder Jarren Duran, the Cincinnati Reds could face stiff trade competition from the San Diego Padres. The Padres previously pursued Duran at the trade deadline and reportedly offered a package including Dylan Cease and Ethan Salas in 2025. Duran, who is under team control through 2028, is coming off a down season with Boston.
Koch argues that San Diego general manager A.J. Preller is likely to outbid Cincinnati for the outfielder. Separately, former general manager Jim Bowden revealed that the Red Sox maintain interest in trading for Reds superstar Elly De La Cruz if they fail to acquire CJ Abrams from Washington.
