The Cleveland Guardians completed a historic ALDS comeback on Saturday by defeating the Chicago White Sox 2-0 in Game 5 at Progressive Field. Cleveland became just the 11th team in MLB history to win a best-of-five postseason series after trailing 2-0. Pitchers set an all-time nine-inning MLB record by striking out 21 batters in the deciding victory.
Starter Gavin Williams struck out 12 batters to finish the series with 24 total strikeouts. Offensively, José Ramírez drove in both runs with a home run on a pitch just 0.74 feet off the ground, the lowest tracked pitch hit for a postseason homer since 2008.
