The Colorado Rockies have officially hired Ethan Katz as their new Major League pitching coach for the upcoming 2027 season. Katz replaces Alon Leichman, who was dismissed after Colorado's pitching staff recorded a league-worst 5.99 ERA. Katz will work directly under pitching director Matt Daniels as he attempts to revitalize the Rockies' rotation and bullpen.
Katz was originally drafted as a pitcher by the Rockies in 2005 and spent four seasons in their minor league system. He later served as the Chicago White Sox pitching coach from 2021 to 2025 and spent the 2026 season as the Houston Astros' assistant pitching coach before being dismissed alongside manager Joe Espada.
