The Story in 60 Seconds

The New York Mets have claimed right-handed pitcher Pierson Ohl off waivers from the Colorado Rockies, according to Chelsea Janes of SNY. Colorado officially announced the transaction after dropping the 27-year-old pitcher from its 40-man roster. Ohl did not appear in any games for the Rockies in 2026 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in late February, though he resumed throwing in August in preparation for the 2027 season.

Originally a 14th-round draft pick by the Minnesota Twins in 2021, Ohl made his major league debut in 2025, recording a 5.10 ERA across 30 innings. Colorado acquired him via trade in January 2026 before placing him on waivers following his missed season. Ohl joins the Mets organization with a full slate of minor-league options remaining.
