ESPN naming Tigers ‘true contenders’ for Tarik Skubal is rabbit hole fans don’t want to go down

Motor City Bengals writer Katrina Stebbins argues that Detroit Tigers fans should be skeptical of reports linking the club to free agent pitcher Tarik Skubal. Although an ESPN poll conducted by insider Kiley McDaniel identified Detroit alongside the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets as "true contenders" for Skubal, Stebbins believes a reunion remains highly improbable.

The writer points to Detroit's prior reluctance to offer massive long-term deals under president of baseball operations Scott Harris as a key obstacle. Stebbins contends that the Dodgers remain the frontrunners to sign Skubal to a lucrative free-agent contract following his midseason trade away from Detroit.
