McGonigle continues to make Tigers history during stellar rookie campaign

Kevin McGonigle broke the Detroit Tigers franchise rookie record for reaching base safely during Wednesday afternoon's 4-2 loss to the Washington Nationals at Comerica Park. McGonigle recorded three hits in the game, bringing his total times on base safely this season to 262. He surpassed the previous club rookie record of 260 set by Harvey Kuenn in 1953.

McGonigle became only the fifth Major League rookie to reach base 262 or more times since 1990, joining Aaron Judge, Ichiro Suzuki, Albert Pujols, and Ben Grieve. Tigers manager A.J. Hinch praised the rookie's approach, highlighting his consistent ability to avoid extended slumps and maintain high offensive value throughout the season.
