The Detroit Tigers have activated right-handed pitcher Jack Flaherty from the 15-day injured list for the final game of the season. Flaherty, who had been sidelined since late July due to right flexor inflammation, takes the roster spot of left-hander Brant Hurter. River Ryan is scheduled to start the Sunday finale for Detroit, with Flaherty expected to pitch in relief.
Flaherty completed two rehab appearances with Triple-A Toledo before his activation. The veteran pitcher is set to enter free agency after completing a two-year, $35 million contract with Detroit, during which he logged 50 starts with an ERA in the mid-4.00s.
