The Los Angeles Dodgers have parted ways with hitting coach Aaron Bates after failing to agree on a new contract. Bates leaves the organization following a 12-year tenure, having served on the major-league coaching staff since 2019. The Dodgers reportedly offered Bates a multiyear contract extension to remain in his role, but negotiations ended without a deal.
Bates initially joined the Dodgers organization as a coach after his playing career, working up through the minor-league ranks before becoming an assistant hitting coach and later co-hitting coach in 2023. His departure marks an unexpected change to the coaching staff following the Dodgers' NLCS exit against the Milwaukee Brewers.
