Guardians secure 3rd-straight AL Central title thanks to Rockies win

The Cleveland Guardians clinched their third consecutive American League Central title on Saturday under manager Stephen Vogt. Cleveland defeated the Kansas City Royals 11-5 at Kauffman Stadium after overcoming an early 3-0 deficit. Their division title was finalized when the Colorado Rockies defeated the second-place Chicago White Sox 9-6 at Guaranteed Rate Field, allowing Cleveland to avoid the Wild Card round.

In the win over Kansas City, rookie Chase DeLauter hit his 16th home run and Steven Kwan contributed three hits. The Rockies' victory over Chicago was powered by two home runs from catcher Hunter Goodman. Cleveland improved to an 85-76 record and advanced directly to the AL Division Series despite ranking last in MLB payroll.
