Right-hander Jason Alexander elected free agency from the Houston Astros after the club’s season ended this week, ending his latest stint with the organization.
Right-handed pitcher Jason Alexander has elected free agency from the Houston Astros following the conclusion of the club's season. The 33-year-old was designated for assignment on September 24, cleared waivers, and was outrighted to Triple-A Sugar Land before choosing free agency on October 2 instead of staying in Houston's system.
Alexander struggled in 2026, recording a 1-1 record with a 9.33 ERA across four major league appearances for the Astros. The Astros won the AL West with an 81-81 record before being swept by the Chicago White Sox in the Wild Card Series.
