The Story in 60 Seconds

Houston Astros assistant general managers Charles Cook and Gavin Dickey have interviewed for the club's vacant general manager position, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. The Astros are evaluating several candidates to lead their front office following the departure of Dana Brown in August. Rays assistant general manager Kevin Ibach and Brewers assistant general manager Matt Kleine are also in the mix, with Kleine reportedly viewed as a potential favorite.

Brown parted ways with Houston in August, leaving team owner Jim Crane to oversee baseball operations alongside an internal group including Dickey, Cook, Connor Huff, and Jeff Bagwell. Cook joined the organization in 2016, while Dickey has been with the Astros since 2011. Crane may seek an executive from a lower-payroll organization, with reports suggesting a final hiring decision could arrive before the World Series concludes.
