Royals To Replace Hitting Coach Alec Zumwalt

The Kansas City Royals plan to replace hitting coach Alec Zumwalt, according to a report from Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Zumwalt is not being fired and will instead be reassigned within the organization, retaining his title as senior director of hitting performance while stepping away from the daily big league staff.

Zumwalt has served on Kansas City's major league coaching staff since May 2022, during which the team struggled in overall run production, home runs, and walk rate. Despite breakout performances from Jac Caglianone and Carter Jensen, several key veterans experienced downturns this season, though manager Matt Quatraro remains secure under contract.
