Robinson lifted Dodgers to 1–0 victory over Yanks in 1956 World Series Game 6

Mark Langill reflects on the 70th anniversary of Jackie Robinson's final Major League hit, a walk-off single for the Brooklyn Dodgers against the New York Yankees in Game 6 of the 1956 World Series. In the 10th inning of a scoreless contest at Ebbets Field, Robinson drove in Jim Gilliam off pitcher Bob Turley to secure a 1-0 Brooklyn victory following 10 shutout innings from Clem Labine.
The hit proved to be Robinson's last in the majors, as he went hitless in Game 7 before the Yankees clinched the championship. Robinson retired from baseball after the 1956 season to transition into executive business life, declining to play for the New York Giants following an offseason trade.
