The Story in 60 Seconds

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Dalton Rushing was scheduled to undergo elbow surgery to address a partial UCL tear, according to sources. Rushing is expected to undergo a hybrid internal brace procedure, which would position him to return to full-time catching in nine months, with the ability to hit much sooner.

Rushing had previously managed two injured list stints for a right forearm flexor strain alongside the UCL issue. He took on an expanded role earlier in the season when primary catcher Will Smith missed three months, posting an .809 OPS before suffering a flare-up during pregame throwing in August.
