The Los Angeles Dodgers said that two-way star Shohei Ohtani will not need surgery on his left knee or right arm during their end-of-season news conference on Wednesday.

Dodgers insider Doug McKain argued that letting Shohei Ohtani set his own workload contributed to his late-season health issues, suggesting that resting may sometimes be best for the superstar. The Los Angeles Dodgers confirmed at their end-of-season news conference that Ohtani will not require surgery on his left knee or right arm, with expectations for him to pitch again in 2027.
Ohtani did not pitch after July 3 due to knee and biceps discomfort, later slumping to 5-for-26 in the postseason as the Dodgers were swept in the NLCS. Despite McKain suggesting a hitting-only role if necessary, Ohtani stated he remains fully determined to continue playing both ways next season.
