MLB insider Bill Plaschke argued that the Los Angeles Dodgers should stop using two-way star Shohei Ohtani as a pitcher and consider trading him if he refuses to leave the mound. Plaschke suggested that the physical workload of pitching fatigued Ohtani, contributing to a disappointing postseason where he hit .192 during the Dodgers' NLCS sweep by the Milwaukee Brewers.
However, the trade suggestion remains Plaschke's opinion rather than team policy. Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman confirmed that surgery is not on the table and that the club expects Ohtani to pitch next season, though management is still evaluating how to manage his workload alongside rotation arms Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, and Roki Sasaki.
