On this day in 2020, the Los Angeles Dodgers ended their 32-year championship drought with a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 6 of the World Series. The Dodgers overcame an early 1-0 deficit after Rays manager Kevin Cash made the controversial decision to pull dominant starter Blake Snell in the sixth inning.
Following Snell's exit, Mookie Betts hit a double, Austin Barnes scored on a wild pitch, and Corey Seager drove in the go-ahead run. Betts later added an insurance home run, while Julio Urias recorded four strikeouts across 2.1 scoreless innings to secure the save.
