It appears MLB owners are on the same page regarding a salary cap — even Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter and New York Yankees owner Hal Streinbrenner.

New York Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner and Los Angeles Dodgers owner Mark Walter have both expressed support for implementing a salary cap in Major League Baseball. Steinbrenner confirmed his backing of owner proposals as a member of the labor policy committee, while Walter emphasized the need for competitive parity despite his team running MLB's highest payroll.
The current collective bargaining agreement expires on December 1, raising concerns of a potential lockout as owners and players prepare to clash over the issue. MLB owners have reportedly proposed a hard cap of $245.3 million and a floor of $171.2 million for 2027, which remains firmly opposed by the players.
