The Miami Marlins will not bring back hitting coach Pedro Guerrero for the 2027 season, president of baseball operations Peter Bendix announced Tuesday. The club intends to retain the rest of its 2026 coaching staff under manager Clayton McCullough, including assistant hitting coaches Chris Hess and Corbin Day. Bendix noted that while the organization appreciated Guerrero's contributions over his two seasons, it was time for a new voice in the hitting space.
Prior to his two seasons with Miami, the 37-year-old Guerrero served as an assistant hitting coach for the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. During the 2026 campaign, the Marlins finished tied for fifth in the Majors in on-base percentage at .326 and seventh in batting average at .249, but ranked 18th in runs per game at 4.41.
