Report: Marlins Don’t Plan To Trade Sandy Alcantara In Offseason

The Miami Marlins do not plan to trade right-handed pitcher Sandy Alcantara this offseason, according to reporting from Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald. Alcantara has a $21 million club option with a $2 million buyout for 2027, making it likely that the team will retain him rather than send him to free agency.

Alcantara posted a 3.87 ERA in 2026 and remains Miami's primary rotation anchor alongside young arms Eury Pérez and Max Meyer. While president of baseball operations Peter Bendix declined to comment on a long-term extension, Alcantara previously expressed a desire to remain with the Marlins for life.
