MINNEAPOLIS -- Last week, we took a look at five big questions surrounding the Twins as Hot Stove season approaches. Now it’s time to get a little more granular. There’s a real chance the Twins could be a legitimate contender…

MLB.com highlights five Minnesota Twins players whose health and performance will critically shape the team's contention hopes for the 2027 season. Pitcher Pablo López missed the entire 2026 campaign following elbow surgery, while Byron Buxton underwent right hip surgery after an injury-plagued second half. Both cornerstone players will need to successfully recover and contribute consistently for Minnesota to rebound as a postseason contender.
The analysis also identifies three younger players facing pivotal roles, including outfielder Emmanuel Rodriguez, who is out of minor-league options. Left-hander Kendry Rojas is expected to be stretched out as a potential starter in Spring Training, while Royce Lewis looks to establish consistency and sustain his health after transitioning across the infield.
