The Minnesota Twins removed left-handed pitcher Anthony Banda, first baseman Aaron Sabato, and infielder Tristan Gray from their 40-man roster after passing all three through waivers. Banda, who suffered a torn lat midseason requiring surgery, holds more than five years of major league service and will elect free agency rather than accept an outright assignment.
Sabato, Minnesota's 2020 first-round pick, hit 25 home runs in Triple-A but went hitless across six big-league plate appearances before being designated. Gray, a veteran utility infielder who batted .225 across 188 plate appearances for the Twins early in the season, is also expected to reach minor-league free agency.
