Free Agent Profile: Luis Arraez, 2B-1B

Metsmerized writer David Melendi profiles free agent infielder Luis Arraez and argues that the New York Mets should attempt to sign him this offseason. Arraez spent the 2026 season between the San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies, batting .310 across 151 games. He struck out only 28 times in 655 plate appearances and was an All-Star for the fourth time in his career.

Melendi recommends Arraez as a solution for the Mets' unsettled first-base situation, noting his ability to also cover second base. While evaluating alternative free agent options like Jake Bauers, Ty France, and Nathaniel Lowe, the writer notes that Baseball America projects Arraez to command a one-year, $14 million contract.
