The New York Mets announced three departures from their major league coaching staff following the conclusion of their 2026 season. Director of Major League Hitting Jeff Albert, Quality Assurance Coach Danny Barnes, and batting practice pitcher Kevin Mahoney will not return to manager Andy Green's dugout staff in 2027. While all three are free to seek opportunities elsewhere, the organization has left the door open for them to return in different roles.
Albert previously worked in the Mets front office before stepping into the dugout alongside hitting coach Troy Snitker for the 2026 campaign. Barnes had served on the staff since 2022 under three different managers, while Mahoney spent two seasons with the organization. According to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo, the rest of the Mets coaching staff is expected to return for the 2027 season.
