The New York Mets announced that the team will honor the late Jerry Koosman by wearing a memorial patch on the sleeves of their home and road uniforms throughout the 2027 season. Koosman passed away earlier this week at the age of 83 in Osceola, Wisconsin, and the specific design of the tribute patch will be unveiled at a later date.
Koosman remains the winningest left-handed pitcher in franchise history, totaling 140 victories across his tenure from 1967 to 1978. A key figure in the Mets' 1969 World Series championship, Koosman earned victories in Games 2 and 5 of the series, and his No. 36 was retired by the club in 2021.
