The New York Mets announced that the team will wear a memorial patch honoring Jerry Koosman on their home and road uniforms throughout the 2027 season. The patch design will be revealed at a later date. Koosman passed away at age 83 surrounded by his family in Osceola, Wisconsin.
Koosman is the winningest left-hander in Mets history with 140 victories, and the franchise retired his No. 36 in 2021. He played a pivotal role in the club's 1969 World Series championship, securing wins in Game 2 and the series-clinching Game 5.
