Tarik Skubal is the top target on the MLB free agent market this offseason, which means there will be plenty of bidders and the money could be record breaking.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets have emerged as favorites to sign free agent pitcher Tarik Skubal this offseason. Prediction market Kalshi currently places the Dodgers as favorites at 49 percent to retain the two-time Cy Young Award winner, with the Mets following at 37 percent. Skubal joined Los Angeles at the trade deadline and is widely regarded as the top target on the MLB free agent market.
While Skubal indicated his primary goal is winning a World Series, financial power will play a significant role in negotiations. Mets general manager David Stearns noted that improving the starting rotation is a top priority. In addition to the frontrunners, ESPN's Jeff Passan reported that the Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres are also pursuing the ace.
