Anthony Volpe can compete for the Yankees second-base job after Jazz Chisholm entered free agency, but the sample remains small.

Alexander Wilson argues that the New York Yankees should give Anthony Volpe a real competition to win the everyday second-base job this winter rather than simply handing it to him. With Jazz Chisholm Jr. entering free agency, Wilson suggests Volpe has an opportunity following a strong late-season return.
After two Triple-A demotions, Volpe batted .286 across 56 at-bats from September 10 through the postseason, drawing praise from manager Aaron Boone and Aaron Judge. However, Wilson notes the Yankees must maintain alternatives such as re-signing Chisholm or utilizing Jose Caballero, rather than relying entirely on Volpe's small sample size.
