Yankees news: Bellinger and Rice named Silver Slugger finalists

New York Yankees players Ben Rice and Cody Bellinger have been named finalists for the American League Silver Slugger Awards. Rice is nominated as a designated hitter after hitting 41 home runs with a 149 wRC+, facing competition from AL MVP candidate Yordan Álvarez. Outfielder Cody Bellinger is contending for what would be the third Silver Slugger award of his career.

In other team developments, Gary Phillips reports that the Yankees need external relief options, such as Adrian Morejon or Raisel Iglesias, alongside potentially re-signing pitchers David Bednar, Paul Blackburn, and John Schreiber. Additionally, Jared Greenspan highlighted outfield prospect Spencer Jones as a potential key contributor for 2027, noting his swing effectiveness against lower pitches despite struggles against high-velocity fastballs.
