The Philadelphia Phillies announced that Wood was held out purely as a precautionary measure, dispelling speculation regarding a potential health issue as the team won its first title since 1995.
The 22-year-old right-hander has posted a 4.36 ERA with 139 strikeouts over 95 innings across 25 starts between two levels in his first full professional season. The organization has managed the 2025 first-round pick carefully, limiting him to no more than five innings or 80 pitches per start.
