Right-handed pitcher Jose Urquidy remains a free agent after initial reports indicated he had re-signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates on a minor league contract. According to multiple sources, including Antonio Puesan, Urquidy has not agreed to a deal, with earlier reports stemming from an error in the MLB.com transaction logs.
The 31-year-old veteran cleared waivers and elected free agency following brief stints during the season with the Pirates, Chicago White Sox, and Philadelphia Phillies. Urquidy posted a 4.95 ERA across 36 1/3 big-league innings in 2026 while compiling 132 total innings across the majors and minors.
