The Rays have taken control of the ALCS after winning two out of three games on the road at Progressive Field.
The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Cleveland Guardians 3-1 in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series at Progressive Field. With the victory, Tampa Bay took a 3-2 series lead and sits just one win away from reaching the World Series. Rays starting pitcher Drew Rasmussen led the way, yielding only one run across seven innings while striking out six batters.
Tampa Bay capitalized on early plate discipline against Cleveland starter Parker Messick, building a 3-0 lead by the third inning through a bases-loaded walk and timely base hits. The best-of-seven series now heads back to Tropicana Field, where the Guardians must win consecutive elimination games to advance.
