The New York Yankees could look to upgrade at third base and move on from Ryan McMahon this offseason in a bold move.

The New York Yankees view third base as an area of need this offseason, according to YES Network reporter Jack Curry, casting doubt on Ryan McMahon's future with the team. New York acquired McMahon from the Colorado Rockies at the trade deadline in July 2025, but the club may now consider replacing him through free agency or via trade.
While McMahon remains a strong defender, his offensive struggles have prompted the potential shift after he batted .213 with 11 home runs and 41 RBIs. The 31-year-old enters the final season of a six-year, $70 million contract, earning $16 million in 2027.
