Jonah Cox jumped from Double-A to the SF Giants in 2026, bringing elite speed and defensive versatility while facing a steep adjustment at the plate.

San Francisco Giants rookie Jonah Cox emerged from Double-A to claim a major-league role during the 2026 season. After hitting .400 with 27 stolen bases in 44 games for Richmond, Cox earned a direct promotion to MLB on May 31, making his debut against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field.
Cox led the Giants with 16 stolen bases across 62 games while demonstrating elite 99th-percentile sprint speed and recording +3 Outs Above Average in center field. Despite striking out at a 38.5% rate, Nathan Hirschi argues that Cox's elite defense, speed, and versatility give him a clear path to a bench role next season.
