The SF Giants took a chance on left-handed reliever Ryan Borucki. It did not work out, but maybe manager Tony Vitello learned from the experience.

Around the Foghorn's Nick San Miguel argues that reliever Ryan Borucki served as an important managerial learning experience for San Francisco Giants rookie manager Tony Vitello during the 2026 season. The Giants signed Borucki just before Opening Day after his release by the Chicago White Sox, but the left-hander struggled, posting a 4.94 ERA before being released in early June.
San Miguel notes that Borucki suffered from severe platoon splits, with right-handed hitters batting .373 against him compared to .195 for left-handers. The writer suggests Vitello learned a valuable lesson regarding bullpen usage and matchup management that will benefit the team entering 2027.
