There’s no word Philly has started its process yet, but Cora was offered the job before the Phillies promoted Mattingly from bench coach. So it’s an unusual situation where the favorite is known.

Alex Cora reportedly has a strong inside track to become the next manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, according to Jon Heyman. Interim manager Don Mattingly is expected to step down after guiding the team to a wild-card playoff appearance, leaving the managerial position open.
Cora was previously offered the role before Mattingly was elevated from bench coach. A potential hire would reunite Cora with Phillies president Dave Dombrowski, with whom he previously won the 2018 World Series while with the Boston Red Sox.
