Mariners fade into fall in 7-0 loss to Astros

The Seattle Mariners suffered a 7-0 shutout loss against the Houston Astros on Tuesday night at T-Mobile Park. Mariners starting pitcher Logan Gilbert struggled throughout the outing, surrendering 10 hits, two walks, and three strikeouts over four innings of work. The defeat moved Seattle to the brink of postseason elimination.

Houston opened the scoring in the first inning on an RBI single from Yordan Álvarez before Christian Walker widened the lead with a three-run home run off Gilbert in the third. Despite the loss, Gilbert struck out Yainer Díaz to pass Mark Langston for fourth place on Seattle's all-time strikeout leaderboard.
