The Story in 60 Seconds

Seattle Mariners second baseman Cole Young has been announced as a finalist for the Rawlings American League Gold Glove Award. He is nominated alongside Michael Massey of the Kansas City Royals and Chase Meidroth of the Chicago White Sox. Young emerged as a defensive standout during the 2026 campaign after taking over everyday duties following Jorge Polanco's departure to the New York Mets.

Young led American League second basemen in multiple defensive categories, including 157 games played, 1,350.1 innings, and 16 defensive runs saved with a .990 fielding percentage. If he wins, he will become the first Mariner to win a Gold Glove since Cal Raleigh and Dylan Moore did so in 2024.
