ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- The Tampa Bay Rays' postseason hopes apparently did not crash like Junior Caminero and outfielder Jonny DeLuca down the left field foul line in the ninth inning of the American League Championship Series opener on Monday.
Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero avoided serious injury after an on-field collision in the ninth inning of Monday's ALCS Game 1. Tampa Bay manager Kevin Cash confirmed that Caminero only had the wind knocked out of him and is completely fine despite the team's 7-3 loss to the Cleveland Guardians.
The collision occurred along the foul line with outfielder Jonny DeLuca, though Caminero remained in the game. Elsewhere on the rosters, Tampa Bay added prospect Brody Hopkins in place of Garrett Cleavinger, while Cleveland swapped Daniel Schneemann for right-hander Slade Cecconi.
