The trade that nearly sent Jacob deGrom to Atlanta is a talking point again.

MLB insider Jim Bowden reported that the Texas Rangers and Atlanta Braves previously agreed on a trade involving Jacob deGrom and Spencer Strider, which could be revisited this winter. Although the initial deal collapsed because deGrom refused to waive his full no-trade clause, Bowden indicated moving him would offer significant financial relief for Texas as the club aims to get younger.
deGrom is owed $37 million in 2027 with a $20 million option for 2028, making any permanent trade financially impactful. Alongside the Braves, the New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, and Toronto Blue Jays are reportedly interested, though deGrom's no-trade clause and an impending CBA expiration remain potential hurdles.
